Marianne Elliott

Marianne Elliott is an acclaimed director of stage and screen. Her debut film The Salt Path, starring Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs, premiered at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. 

She is the only woman to have won three Tony Awards for Best Direction, with celebrated productions including War HorseThe Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-TimeAngels in AmericaCompany, and Death of a Salesman. 

As Artistic Director of Elliott & Harper Productions, her credits include Heisenberg, the West End premiere of Mike Bartlett’s Cock (starring Jonathan Bailey), and the award-winning revival of Death of a Salesman (co-directed with Miranda Cromwell), which won the Olivier Award for Best Director. Her 2018 gender-reversed revival of Company received multiple awards in both the West End and on Broadway. 

At the National Theatre, she directed several landmark productions, including Angels in AmericaWar Horse, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, all of which transferred to Broadway and received critical acclaim. 

Earlier in her career, Marianne was an Associate Director at both the National Theatre and the Royal Court, and an Artistic Director of the Royal Exchange in Manchester. She also directed two episodes of Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads for the BBC in 2020. 

In 2018, she was awarded an OBE for Services to Theatre.
