Eilidh (she/her) is an emerging writer from a small fishing town in rural Scotland, now based in London. Her debut play was longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Playwriting, shortlisted for the Theatre503 International Playwriting Award, and won the Rose Theatre’s New Writing Festival — later performed at Riverside Studios after winning the Originals Playwriting Award.

Her writing often explores rural identity, community and change. Drifters continues that theme — set against the backdrop of the sea, it captures moments of connection and distance between people on the edge of things.National Young Writers is our acclaimed, online writing programme for creatives aged 18 – 30. About her inspiration for The Last Excuse, Mackenzie told us:

“My best friend (I won’t name her, in case she gets fired) has a list of excuses to get out of work, and I thought, what if they all started to come true.”
