Darren Cheek
Darren has performed main roles at several of the UK’s leading regional theatres, including Citizens Theatre Glasgow, Birmingham Repertory, Dukes Theatre Lancaster, Southwold Rep, as well as roles at various West End Theatres including Theatre Royal Haymarket, The Ambassadors Theatre and The Royal Court.
Film credits include 50/50 (VS1), Second Shot (Sur Productions), Things to do Before You’re Thirty, (Samuelson Productions) Travelogue (Stampede), Our Disposable Friend (Seesaw Productions), and Treading Water (Halogen Entertainment).
Television credits include lead roles in Art Party for Fox Family Channel and A Special Occasion (BBC) as well as appearances on Home and Family (Fox) and EPSN Classic.
A fluent British Sign Language user, Darren was Associate Director of Krazy Kat Theatre Company between 2000 and 2011 and toured regularly in their sign integrated productions.
Since leaving Krazy Kat Darren has been working as an Associate Artist with Kipper Tie, as Associate Director with Unfit Productions, and as Artistic Director of Damn Cheek.
Darren most recently appeared as God / Jesus in The Malvern Mystery Play and can currently be seen in the ongoing tour of Damn Cheek’s The Door. In March 2020 Darren will again be directing and appearing in a staged version of Tony Earnshaw’s novel Blessed Assurance, and will also be touring in a Damn Cheek co-production with Brighton Beam Theatre Co – On a Wicklow Hill.
