Florence Espeut-Nickless
Florence is a writer and actor from Chippenham in Wiltshire. She writes for stage and screen about and with working-class communities in the hope of making the arts more accessible to everyone, regardless of background and geographical location.
She’s part of Dancing Ledge’s Screenskills HETV New Talent Scheme 2023/4, and a recipient of the Film 4/Peggy Ramsay Playwrights Award 2024 (at Bristol Old Vic).
She recently adapted The Odyssey (Episode 3: The Four Winds) for the National Theatre and Trowbridge Town Hall and is currently under commission to National Theatre Connections.
She was CRF Writer in Residence at Pentabus, an Open Session Writer at Bristol Old Vic, associate artist at Strike A Light as part of their Let Artists Be Artists Scheme, and part of BBC Writersroom Voices South group 2023.
DESTINY was her debut play. It won the Edinburgh National Partnerships Award (Pleasance & Bristol Old Vic FERMENT) and was shortlisted for Theatre West’s Write On Women Award. It has toured the UK extensively over the last 3 years, and just had its international debut in Denmark.
She also wrote Miracle on 34 Seymour Street (Trowbridge Town Hall) and is currently developing a new play Blinded by Your Grace (Bristol Old Vic/Strike A Light/GL4/MAYK/Trowbridge Town Hall).
She was a finalist on 4Stories (C4/Blacklight) and shortlisted for Dancing Ledge’s Writer in Residence scheme.
