Elizabeth Freestone
Elizabeth is a freelance theatre director whose credits include: The Rape of Lucrece, Here Lies Mary Spindler, The Tragedy of Thomas Hobbes, The Comedy of Errors (all for the RSC); Endless Light (Kali/Southwark Playhouse); The Duchess of Malfi, Dr Faustus, The School for Scandal, Volpone (Greenwich Theatre); Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare’s Globe); The Water Harvest (Theatre503), Left On Church Street (Bridewell).
She is the former Artistic Director of Pentabus for whom she directed: Here I Belong by Matt Hartley, From Land to Mouth by Bethan Marlow, The Lone Pine Club by Alice Birch, Milked by Simon Longman, Each Slow Dusk by Rory Mullarkey, In This Place by Frances Brett and Lydia Adetunji, For Once by Tim Price, Blue Sky by Clare Bayley, This Same England with Lorraine Stanley, Stand Up Diggers All by Phil Porter and The Hay Play by Nell Leyshon.
She was the Associate Director for A Caucasian Chalk Circle at the National and has also worked as a Staff Director both there and at the RSC. She was as an assistant director at the Royal Court, Soho and Hampstead. She has a long association with the National Theatre Studio including as Director on Attachment and Artist in Residence. She trained at Rose Bruford College and the National Theatre Studio.
